Tasmania's Overland Track is Australia's marquee alpine walk — Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair through the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. In the booking season a paid Overland Track Pass is mandatory and the direction is north to south; you must carry a tent even with hut nights, because the huts cannot be reserved.
