New Zealand's Great Walks are booked hut-to-hut circuits through alpine country. This catalog has two regions: Fiordland, with the Kepler loop from Lake Te Anau, the one-way Milford Track from Glade Wharf to Sandfly Point, and the Routeburn Track from Routeburn Shelter to The Divide (the Routeburn also enters Mount Aspiring National Park), and Tongariro on the Central Plateau — the Northern Circuit around active volcanoes plus the distinct one-way Alpine Crossing day-hike from Mangatepopo to Ketetahi. DOC hut bookings are required in season on the Great Walks; the Crossing has no walking permit, but a shuttle is the usual access.
