Nepal trekking permits 2026

This is a reference note, not a booking service. Amounts below are what the cited official page showed on 2026-08-25. They are not a guarantee at a check-post. Manaslu is not in this catalog and is not covered here except as a warning not to copy its extra-day RAP rate onto Nar-Phu.

The three tiers

Nepal stacks three kinds of paper on the walks we cover. They are not interchangeable.

1. National Park entry — Sagarmatha National Park on the Everest Base Camp walk. Tariff on the Nepal Tourism Board park-entry table.ntb.gov.np · 2026-08-25
2. Conservation Area entry (ACAP) — Annapurna Conservation Area on the Circuit and on Nar-Phu. Tariff on the NTNC e-permit terms.epermit.ntnc.org.np · 2026-08-25
3. Restricted-Area Permit (RAP) — extra Department of Immigration permit for named rural-municipality wards. Nar-Phu is Manang Narpa / Nasho, not Gorkha. Tariff on the NTB trekking-permit table.ntb.gov.np · 2026-08-25

TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) is a fourth card on many Himalayan routes. NTB’s TIMS page lists both Everest Basecamp Trek and Annapurna Circuit Trek. Whether EBC still needs it in the field is contested. Annapurna is listed the same way, without that Khumbu debate in our records.ntb.gov.np · 2026-08-25

Everest region

Record: Everest Base Camp Trek. Altitude illness above about 3,000 m is the public safety fact on that page — Namche sits around 3,440 m.

Sagarmatha National Park entry

Khumbu Pasang Lhamu RM Trek-Card

The rural-municipality trek-card page (CMS item submitted 28 April 2023; Lukla tourist information centres) quotes SAARC countries and China NPR 2,000 and other countries NPR 3,000, with passport and photo. TIMS (Everest)

NTB TIMS page, “Trekking Guide and TIMS Card Mandatory on Most Trekking Routes”, Everest Region row, still lists Everest Basecamp Trek (revised provision effective 31 March 2023). Agency-issued TIMS charges on that page: NPR 2,000 others / NPR 1,000 SAARC. No second official page waives EBC TIMS. Status is contested — not “not required”.ntb.gov.np · 2026-08-25

Annapurna

Record: Annapurna Circuit. Thorong La is an altitude hazard (pass cited around 5,416 m on that record).

ACAP from NTNC e-permit terms (checked 2026-08-25): entry fee NPR 3,000 foreigners / NPR 1,000 SAARC (tax included). Children below 10 do not require a permit. Double fees if the permit is issued at a check-post. Online payment or cash at an EP counter. Verifiedepermit.ntnc.org.np · 2026-08-25

TIMS applies on this corridor in the official list: NTB’s TIMS table includes Annapurna Circuit Trek (and several other Annapurna-region names). Same licensed-guide + agency TIMS rule and same NPR 2,000 / NPR 1,000 charges as the TIMS page states. Unlike Khumbu, our Annapurna record does not treat TIMS as a waiver debate.ntb.gov.np · 2026-08-25

An official TIMS tariff was previously marked unfetched on the Circuit record; the NTB TIMS page now supplies the NPR 2,000 / 1,000 figures (checked 2026-08-25). Confirm at issue — this page does not invent a check-post process.

Restricted areas (Nar-Phu)

Record: Nar-Phu. ACAP still applies (NTNC). RAP is extra.

NTB trekking-permit table, row 12, Manang — Narpa Rural Municipality (wards 1–5) and Nasho Rural Municipality (wards 6–7), checked 2026-08-25:

• September–November: USD 100 per person per first week
• December–August: USD 75 per person per first week
• After one week, both seasons: USD 15 per person per day

Do not copy Gorkha / Manaslu Area extra-day USD 10 (December–August) onto Nar-Phu. That is a different NTB row. Verifiedntb.gov.np · 2026-08-25

NTB: a trekking permit for restricted areas “must be obtained from the Department of Immigration, Kalikasthan, Kathmandu.” The English DoI URL immigration.gov.np/en/page/trekking-route returned 404 on 2026-08-25 (TLS/host issues on related DoI hosts). NTB is the live official tariff this pass.

A two-trekker minimum (FITs forbidden) is noted on our Nar-Phu record from the NTB table (checked 2026-08-24). The live tariff table on 2026-08-25 still shows the USD rates above; it does not repeat a FIT/two-person sentence on that page. Treat the two-person line as Unverified on this pass unless DoI restates it. The licensed-guide listing on the TIMS page stands.

Safety that stays public

Acute mountain sickness is a field fact on Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit, and Nar-Phu. It is not gated. Restricted-area walking that NTB places behind a licensed guide is a compliance and safety rule, not a fee invention.
