France here is two mountain records, not one island. Corsica's GR20 — Frà li monti — is the granite spine of the island, Calenzana to Conca, with no walking permit but mandatory PNRC refuge bookings. The Tour du Mont Blanc is a second region: a ~170 km loop from Les Houches around the Mont Blanc massif that crosses France, Italy, and Switzerland.
