The Dolomites' Alta Via 1 is the classic hut-to-hut high route from Lago di Braies south toward Belluno. There is no central trail authority and no walking permit; rifugi (CAI and private) are booked one by one. The walking is steep limestone with alpine weather and optional cabled finishes — not AV2 through AV6.
